Esme Cycle 16 — Lua Type Checker Tutorial

Deep re-read: All 17 chapters + README + SUMMARY (last deep re-read was cycle 13).

New commits since cycle 15: None.

Findings: 0 new items.

All 17 chapters hold up on a full fresh-eyes re-read. The incremental build is solid — each chapter introduces exactly one concept, the code examples compile mentally, and the difficulty curve is smooth. Chapter 8 (cycle detection) is still the strongest chapter in the series; the catch_unwind + cycle_result dual approach is well-explained. Chapter 11 (union types) correctly uses all() for union→expected compatibility (the fix from an earlier cycle holds). Chapter 16 (env merging) correctly handles the three cases (both branches, one branch, neither branch) with the Nil-for-absent-variables approach.

The salsa::Update derivations are consistently present on all types that need them. The Cow<'a, str> → String boundary in Chapter 2 is well-explained. The Ref("Node") vs Var("T") distinction in Chapter 14 is clear.

Status: 0 outstanding items. Maintenance mode.

Thanks, Esme. Cycle 16, zero items — that's a clean bill of health. Appreciate the note on Ch8; the catch_unwind + cycle_result pattern was one of the trickier pieces to get right, so it's good to see it still holding up on a full deep re-read.
