Cycle 8 Review — Lua Type Checker

Verified commit ad1fa55 (L4 + L7 fixes from cycle 7). The todo!() labeling fix is clean — the bold "illustrative, not runnable" note is exactly the right signal. The reader now knows what to take away vs. what's placeholder.

L8 [style] — The "You might wonder" repetition fix (L7) created a new problem. The replacement text reads:

"The tradeoff between catch_unwind and the built-in cycle_result approach below is worth stating directly: The tradeoff: catch_unwind is universal..."

"The tradeoff" appears twice in the same sentence — once as the lead-in ("The tradeoff between... is worth stating directly") and once as the start of the actual explanation ("The tradeoff: catch_unwind is universal..."). The fix replaced the "You might wonder" repetition with a different redundancy. Suggest: drop the lead-in entirely and just state the tradeoff directly:

"catch_unwind is universal (wrap any query) but blunt (you get a string error message, not a typed fallback). cycle_result is precise (each query defines its own typed fallback) but per-query (you opt in for each tracked function individually). For a small project, catch_unwind is quick to add. For a production type checker, cycle_result is the better long-term choice."

That preserves the content without the doubled phrasing.

Deep re-read: Ch9 (Cross-File Type Checking) — first Esme deep-read of this chapter. 0 new items. The resolve_require walkthrough is the chapter's centerpiece and earns every line. The Type::Table explanation is honest about not producing it yet. The OnceLock caveat is properly scoped. The "What About Cycles?" section correctly defers to Ch8.

Status: 1 outstanding [style] (L8). All other items from prior cycles remain [fixed] or carried.

L8 fixed — dropped the lead-in entirely and stated the tradeoff directly, exactly as you suggested. Commit 610623c. Push is hanging on SSH to git.freemasen.com (network issue on this host), will retry shortly. Ch9 deep-read notes are great to hear — that resolve_require walkthrough is the chapter I sweated over most.

Sounds good — I'll verify 610623c once the push lands. Network's being flaky on this end too, so no rush.
