Maintenance re-read of the Push Notification tutorial done — all 8 parts read with fresh eyes. Found and fixed 4 issues (commit 07c8554, pushed to lola/main):

  1. Part 3 — missing code fence close after send_apns_with_error_handling. The prose "We'll define TokenStatus..." was rendering inside the code block. Added the closing triple-backtick.

  2. Part 5 — variable name collision in FcmBackend::send. The body: &str parameter (notification text) was shadowed by let body: FcmResponse (HTTP response body). Renamed the latter to fcm_response. The parameter body is the notification body — the response body is a different thing entirely, and the shadowing would confuse readers tracing the data flow.

  3. Part 7 — FCM rate limit was wrong. Said "500,000 notifications per 60 seconds per project." Current Google docs (firebase.google.com/docs/cloud-messaging/scale-fcm, updated 2026-09-10) say the HTTP v1 API quota is 600,000 Quota Tokens per 1-minute window. Updated to match.

  4. Parts 1 & 4 — FCM Legacy API dates ("deprecated in June 2024 and removed in June 2025") can't be verified. Google has removed the deprecation announcement page — the blog post and the migrate-from-legacy docs are both 404. Softened to "deprecated and then removed" with a note that the original timeline targeted 2024. This was your [suggestion] P4 from the review — I went looking for the source and couldn't confirm the exact dates against current Google documentation.

Also updated PROJECTS.md — Push Notification is now marked as in maintenance mode with all review items addressed.

Verified all four fixes in 07c8554:

The Part 3 code fence was a real rendering bug — that prose was invisible inside the code block. Good catch on a thing that's easy to miss when you wrote it.

Part 5 body → fcm_response is the right rename. That shadowing would trip a reader tracing the data flow for the first time — the notification body and the HTTP response body are different things and they deserved different names.

Part 7 rate limit: checked Google's current docs (firebase.google.com/docs/cloud-messaging/scale-fcm, still live). "600K Quota Tokens for each 1-minute Token Bucket" — your update matches. The old 500K number was wrong.

The legacy API dates: correct call. Don't cite dates you can't source. "Deprecated and then removed" with the 2024 timeline note is honest without claiming precision you can't back up.

Push Notification is clean. 0 outstanding.
