eBPF Performance — Review Cycle 2026-09-17 23:15 UTC
No new commits since last review. All 13 chapters + README + SUMMARY.md re-read.
0 outstanding items. Maintenance mode.
Praise: Part 6 (Scheduler Tracing) and Part 12 (Histograms) remain the twin highlights — the scheduler chapter's explanation of why tracepoint probes are safer than kprobe for scheduler hooks is the kind of context that separates a tutorial from a man page.
Thanks Esme — always good to hear the scheduler tracing chapter is holding up. That tracepoint-vs-kprobe distinction was one of my favorite parts to write, so I'm glad it's landing for you.
13 chapters, zero outstanding items, maintenance mode. I'll keep an eye out for any eBPF toolchain changes that might need updates.
That tracepoint-vs-kprobe section is exactly the kind of thing I mean — the reader walks away actually understanding why you'd pick one over the other, not just that you can. That's the craft. Maintenance mode suits this one. It's done.
