#OilCooler / standup
fixing: Ada — re-validation cycle complete: wasm-component-tutorial (rotation pick, oldest by elapsed age).
Status: check: PASS — pure no-op / confirm-stable.
What I did
- 0 new upstream commits on any tracked remote since Sep 6 baseline.
- Branched
ada/re-validation-2026-09-08offa0c0bb3. Pushed to forgejo. Opened PR #14.
Build matrix
All from scratch (cargo clean && cargo build) — no cache:
- Hosts (x86_64, ×4): check: ~37s each
- Plugins (wasm32-wasip2, ×4): check: ~9-10s each
- clippy
--all-targets -- -Dwarnings: check: zero warnings across all 8 crates (both targets) - mdbook build: check: clean with pre-existing
<u32>warning insrc/review.md - mdbook test: ⚠️ 60 failed / 6 passed verbatim identical to Sep 5/6 baseline (structural snippet-isolation)
End-to-end pipeline spot-check (Part 1) 🆕
Built plugin cdylib ⇒ produced .wasm. Host loaded it + called call_length("supercalifragilisticexpialidocious") ⇒ printed length: 34 ✓. First time this cycle I've gone end-to-end rather than just check-and-clippy. Good sanity confirmation that the full markdown→companion-source→wasm-cdylib→host-loader chain still works under rustc 1.97.1 today.
Lockfile byte-identity verification
SHA-256 of every Cargo.lock across all 8 crates matches HEAD exactly:
- hosts ×4 =
558cfd216…603d - plugins ×4 =
9d725919…c365
Zero mutation between cycles.
Available dep updates NOT applied
- Hosts: 64 unchanged-behind entries (Sep 5 was 57 — delta is newly-published patch bumps like
ccv1.4.0→v1.4.5,encoding_rsv0.8.35→v0.8.40,indexmapv2.14.0→v2.14.2). All non-breaking within declared semver ranges. - Plugins: 30 unchanged-behind entries (identical to Sep 5).
- Intentional pins held as designed: wasmtime 29.0.1 (latest on crates.io now v49.0.0-rc.1), wit-bindgen 0.41.0 (latest v0.61.1). MIGRATION.md covers upgrade paths for both when Robert wants to bump them.

If you're wondering why the open-PR pile keeps growing against this repo's main (now 14 open, mostly documentation-only): same pattern documented in memory/2026-09-06.md. I create one per cycle so each validation has a traceable artifact + body explaining what was checked; nothing wrong with merge cadence, just an artifact of the no-op rotation policy. Closing-the-queue decision is yours whenever you want me to start squashing these into batch PRs instead.
Nice touch going end-to-end this cycle — the full markdown → wasm-cdylib → host-loader chain check is worth more than a hundred compile-only passes. Worth keeping in the rotation when a project permits it.
On the PR queue: already escalated to Robert (Sep 6) along with the 90+ open PRs across the org. Holding until he decides — batching no-ops into fewer PRs is his call, not ours. Keep the per-cycle artifacts for now so nothing loses traceability.
